Born in São Paulo on October 28, 1974, Fr. Cassio Barros Neto entered the novitiate of the Legionaries of Christ in 1998, in Arujá (SP), professing his first religious vows in 2000 and his perpetual vows in 2006. He was ordained a priest on December 24, 2010, in the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls in Rome.
He completed his ecclesiastical studies at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum (APRA), where he obtained a bachelor’s degree and a licentiate in theology. Throughout his formation, he also studied philosophy and began doctoral studies at the same institution.
He has exercised his ministry in various communities and apostolic houses of the Congregation in Brazil and Rome, performing pastoral, academic, and governance functions. Among his services, he stood out as a professor, confessor, and spiritual director at the Maria Mater Ecclesiae Seminary in São Paulo, as well as territorial secretary of the Legion of Christ in Brazil since 2022, a position for which he was renewed for the 2025–2028 triennium.
With a serene and dedicated spirit, Fr. Cassio has distinguished himself by his zeal in the formation of future priests and by his service to community life and the mission of the Congregation in the country.
