Fr. Savio Zanetta is Italian, born on May 12, 1969, in Borgomanero (Novara) into a practicing Catholic family. In his youth, he was active in Catholic Action, and after seven years of working in the metallurgical sector, at the age of 21, he entered the Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ.
He studied in Spain and Italy, also obtaining a licentiate in philosophy. He carried out his apostolic internships at the Vocational Center in France and was ordained a priest in Rome on January 2, 2001.
His first priestly ministry was as director of the formation center for consecrated members of Regnum Christi in Mexico City. From 2002 to 2015, he was in Brazil, where he worked as a vocation promoter in the south of the country for almost 10 years. There he was also able to experience direct work with Regnum Christi. He was the local coordinator of the apostolate in Curitiba and Joinville, and from late 2012 to September 2015, he was the Territorial Director of Brazil.
He returned to Rome, where for three years he assisted in the formation of theologians at the CILC as an assistant. Then, from 2018 to 2023, he was rector of the community of theologians at the General Directorate headquarters. During this period, he also completed a licentiate in spiritual theology.
Since July 1, 2023, he has been Territorial Director of Italy.
