In the context of Lent and Holy Week, brothers Alfonso Sánchez, LC and Ignacio Uzcanga, LC organize a free and virtual exhibition about the Shroud of Turin, from March 28 to April 20. Prior registration is required and can be done at this link. Registrations will be open until April 11, 2022.
Who is the Man of the Shroud? What is this mysterious linen cloth, considered by many as a relic of Jesus Christ himself? What does contemporary science tell us about it? Why does it so intensely attract our hearts?
The virtual visit to the Shroud of Turin Exhibition at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum offers a unique perspective on the subject:
- life-size reproduction of the cloth;
- historical-didactic journey from its origin to the present day;
- presentation of the scientific debate about its authenticity, characteristics, etc., in light of recent research;
- bronze statue of the Man of the Shroud, by sculptor Luigi E. Mattei;
- holograms of the Man of the Shroud produced by Dr. Petrus Soons;
- study of the Passion of Christ in light of the cloth;
- reconstruction of some Passion objects: nails, crown of thorns, scourges;
- scale reproduction of the Holy Sepulchre as it was in Jesus’ time;
- multimedia presentations about the Shroud of Turin.
The exhibition offers an important opportunity to foster dialogue between science and faith and is aimed at all people with spiritual interest who wish to learn more about and deepen the value, authenticity, meaning, and message of the Shroud of Turin.
