During the week of February 14 to 19, once the exam period was over, the brothers from the Philosophy community at the International School participated in various training activities.
Workshop on the DISC Personality Test
Second and third-year philosophy religious participated in this workshop led by Joan Kingsland, a consecrated member of Regnum Christi, and Salvador Ortiz de Montellano. The workshop consisted of two talks and a personal interview, serving as a means to one of the goals of the training program: “Deepening personal knowledge, in order to recognize and enhance my talents, and also to integrate my weaknesses and personal history with my vocation and with the mission of forming apostles”.
Day on Media and Social Networks
First-year philosophy legionaries attended a training day on media and social networks, led by Father Jorge Enrique Mújica, LC, who helped the brothers deepen their understanding of their identity as religious, with a greater emphasis on social media and cellphone use. This induction broadened the brothers’ horizons for their personal lives and for the mission ahead. The activity responds to the desire to form legionaries with a clear identity, who take responsibility for their lives and training, with deep motivations and convictions.
Father Jorge Enrique recalled, among other things, the message of Pope Francis during the 2017 World Communications Day: “Every word and gesture should express God’s compassion, tenderness, and forgiveness for all. Love, by its nature, is communication; it leads to openness, not isolation”.
Meeting with ECYD Leaders
In the context of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the ECYD, on Thursday, February 17, the territorial leaders of ECYD from different regions visited the Legionaries of Christ International School to share their experiences with the philosophy brothers. They accompanied the communities during dinner and the Eucharistic hour, which was prepared and led by some of them.
Liturgy Training Day: Sacraments, Spirit, and Life
This day was led by Don Leonardo Pelonara, diocesan priest and professor of sacraments at the Pontifical Regina Apostolorum University. The day took place within the framework of number 165 on the spiritual formation of the Ratio Institutionis of the Legionaries of Christ: “One learns to love the liturgy when, in the formation house, it is cared for with love and lived with fervor. Formation programs must constantly help those in initial formation to assimilate and internalize the spirit of the liturgy”.
Don Leonardo helped the philosophy brothers to more vividly experience the work of the Holy Spirit through the Sacraments, especially unraveling His action during the Eucharistic Celebration.
