The P. Alberto Carrara, L.C., participates in a Humanities day

El P. Alberto Carrara, L.C., participa en jornada de Humanidades

The Universidad Anáhuac Veracruz, Campus Córdoba-Orizaba held a Humanities Day in February under the motto “The Challenges of the High tech era” in a hybrid format with in-person attendance and via Zoom for students, teachers, and guests. The event featured the presence from Italy of Fr. Alberto Carrara, LC, addressing the topics:

  • Algorithmics – the metaverse
  • Neuroethics – neuroscience
  • Roboethics
  • Transhumanism – Project 2045

In each lecture, Fr. Alberto Carrara, LC, developed the topics, explaining Project 2045: a strategy aimed at enabling humans to extend their lives, among other things.

On the night of Monday the 14th, Father Carrara also shared a moment with the group of guests from the Missionary Family of Córdoba, from Regnum Christi. He spoke a little more about the benefits and risks of artificial intelligence, the metaverse, etc.

Profile

Fr. Alberto Carrara, LC, was born in Padua, Italy. He is a biological chemical laboratory technician and holds a PhD in Medical Biotechnology from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Padua, Italy. He entered the Legion of Christ novitiate on December 12, 2004. He took his perpetual vows on October 4, 2012. He is a Professor of Philosophical Anthropology and Neuroethics at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum and at the European University of Rome. He coordinates the Neurobioethics Research Group and in 2017 was appointed by Pope Francis as a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life. He is currently vice-superior of the community of professors’ apostolate in Rome.
