With deep sorrow, we inform you that P. Benjamín Dueñas Gorostegui, LC passed away on Tuesday, July 31, in a car accident while returning with his community after a few days of vacation.
The priest was serving his priestly ministry in Mexico City as chaplain of the Rosedal Mexico Institute and of the community of Consecrated Women Domus Mariae Tarascas. Additionally, he was an assistant to the Tapachula sections and chaplain of the Mano Amiga schools for the past 7 years. During the summers, he used to collaborate as a spiritual advisor for the ECYD collaborators.
In light of this sudden death, we ask you to entrust the eternal rest of P. Benjamín, his family, and his community, as well as all the people close to him and to whom he has ministered with his religious and priestly life.
P. Benjamín Dueñas Gorostegui, LC was born in the State of Mexico on June 27, 1973. He entered the Legion of Christ novitiate in 1993. He was ordained deacon on June 3, 2006, and was ordained priest on December 23, 2006, at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore by Cardinal Franc Rodé. He was a philosophy studies prefect at the Higher Studies Center in Rome from 2009 to 2012; from 2011 to 2013, he was secretary of the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome. In 2013, he traveled to Mexico where he served as deputy director and counselor of the Pinecrest School in Mexico City. In 2014, he was chaplain of the community of consecrated women Domus Mariae Tarascas. Since 2015, he was chaplain of the Rosedal Vistahermosa School in Mexico City. Additionally, he was chaplain of the Regnum Christi sections in Tapachula and at the Mano Amiga schools. He also worked promoting various apostolates such as Youth and Missionary Family.
