Mons. Fernando Ramos, obispo auxiliar de Santiago, ordenó diáconos a 4 legionarios de Cristo

Mons. Fernando Ramos, auxiliary bishop of Santiago, ordained 4 Legionaries of Christ as deaconsThe Saturday, August 4th, Juan Pablo Alamos Zegers, Javier Ayala Birrell, Lucas Délano Gaete, and Christian Leal Russildi were ordained deacons at San Francisco de Sales Parish by Mons. Fernando Ramos, auxiliary bishop of Santiago and apostolic administrator of Rancagua. They were accompanied by their families, friends, Legionaries of Christ, consecrated persons, members of Regnum Christi from Chile, and a large group of alumni from the Cumbres School.

During the homily, Mons. Ramos called on them to “sustain what they are experiencing as persons who have received a vocation from the Lord, which is verified through friendship with Jesus. It is a free and generous friendship, but it is not taken for granted in daily life. For this reason, as they walk as deacons and later as priests, they will realize that the vocation they have received can only be sustained through friendship with Jesus. How much of a friend you are to Jesus, how full and fruitful your ministry will be. Day by day, this friendship must be rekindled so that it does not fade and other friendships do not overshadow our hearts.”

Mons. Fernando Ramos, auxiliary bishop of Santiago, ordained 4 Legionaries of Christ as deaconsMons. Fernando Ramos emphasized the service to which these new consecrated persons are called: “the deacon, through ordination, is configured with Christ the Servant. His mission is service, and the fruits expected from him are directly related to service.” He added that “the most lasting fruit produced by deacons is to highlight that service is the best school of social coexistence because, when well directed, it places the weakest and most vulnerable at the center of our concerns.”

The full homily of Mons. Fernando Ramos can be read here. And a photo gallery of the ordination can be viewed at the following link.
