Prayer to ask for the fruits of the review process of the Statutes of the Regnum Christi.

Rome, May 23, 2017. Father Eduardo Robles-Gil, LC presented today, through a letter to the members of Regnum Christi, the draft of the

General Statutes of the Regnum Christi, the result of reflections initiated 7 years ago when Pope Benedict XVI appointed a delegate to accompany the renewal process.

“During these years, we have all had the opportunity to participate in various ways in the reflection and review of the texts that define our charism and mission,” comments Father Eduardo in his letter – which can be read at this link.

This draft has been prepared by the General Steering Committee of Regnum Christi with close assistance from Father Gianfranco Ghirlanda, SJ, papal advisor; it is not intended to be the final word, as the reflection process continues and it still needs to be submitted for the Holy See’s approval.

Full text of the draft of the General Statutes of the Regnum Christi

The text includes elements of continuity that are essential to the spiritual patrimony. There are also changes, such as the incorporation of developments from the Church’s Magisterium regarding ecclesial movements. Among the possible canonical forms, the draft proposes that the Regnum Christi Movement be configured as a federation, the most flexible canonical figure to safeguard the unity of the Movement.

Its drafting is also the result of contributions made during the review process of the Legion of Christ’s Constitutions, the drafting of the Statutes for the consecrated women and men of Regnum Christi, the conclusions of territorial and international conventions of lay members, as well as individual and group reflections that have reached the Central Commission.
