Overcoming Limits

From June 27 to July 5, the Camp Altius was held in Mexico at the facilities of the Student Center of the lay consecrated members of Regnum Christi. 62 young people from ECYD, the apostolate of the Movement for teenagers, participated.

The participants were from 10 cities in Mexico: Culiacán, Cuernavaca, Puebla, Ciudad Obregón, Tijuana, Ensenada, Mexicali, Mexico City, Zacatecas, and Querétaro. The Camp Altius is a military-style camp with the motto “Surpass your limits” and its goal is to help teenagers deepen their experience of God’s love and to make ECYD a way of life.

The participants engaged in spiritual formation activities such as meditations, Mass, a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and spirituality talks from Regnum Christi. Additionally, there was a debate competition and various conferences on formative topics related to adolescence. They also had the opportunity to participate in an apostolic experience by going on a mission day, where the theme of the “Year of Mercy” launched by Pope Francis was addressed. Recreational activities included a bowling tournament, ice skating, a soccer tournament, rodeo, paintball, archery, a trip to Six Flags, and a one-day and overnight camping trip in the forest.

The camp was led by Guillermo Campillo and assisted by facilitators David Ruelas, Luis Hernández, Joel Romero, and Noé Robertos, lay consecrated members, along with support from the Student Center members. Fathers José Alberto Caballero and Federico Ortega, Legionaries of Christ, served as camp chaplains.
