Students from the University Francisco de Vitoria go on a mission to Ethiopia.

Between July 7 and 23, thirty students from the University Francisco de Vitoria , accompanied by Father Justo Gómez, L.C., among other leaders, are in Ethiopia supporting various social projects of the Missionaries of Charity, the congregation founded by Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Specifically, they will support Sediskilo, a house that, in addition to sheltering 800 sick people (HIV, tuberculosis, cancer, leprosy…), is a hospital for the homeless; in Asko, where 80 children with the HIV virus and 90 women with disabilities live; and in Brother, a house of the Missionaries of Charity for 84 people with mental and physical disabilities.

The goal of these missions is to give students the opportunity to ask the question of meaning and to discover the social vision of the university student, based on three pillars: participation in social projects, training, and understanding a different culture.

Through the development of social projects, UFV students will become solutions to the problems faced by the African population, helping to improve the quality of life for the most disadvantaged people in the country.

The second element of this experience is based on training and Networking through meetings and conferences with prominent figures in the world of cooperation and development. This will allow students to gain a more professional perspective on how situations of inequality are changed by international organizations.

And finally, the distinctive cultural experience offers university students the chance to firsthand understand the historical-social context that generates the current situation of African countries.
