A Jubilee Year to thank the Lord for His gifts and His mercy

Published on 24 June, 2015
News
Beginning of the Jubilee Year in different locations of the Regnum Christi.

On Friday, June 12, the jubilee marking 75 years since the founding of the Legion and Regnum Christi began on the solemnity of the Sacred Heart. In his letter of May 28, Father Eduardo Robles-Gil, L.C., explained that as this year of grace begins on such a heartfelt feast for all of us, it seeks to «give a special sense of gratitude to God our Lord, reparation for our faults and sins, and charity towards others, translated, above all, into communion and the exercise of works of mercy». We share with you some celebrations and initiatives from the localities at the start of this jubilee. On the Regnum Christi portal, this article about the opening of the jubilee year has been published, and you can follow the updates on social media through the hashtag #RC75.

Rome.- On the afternoon of Thursday, June 11, members of Regnum Christi in Rome organized a Eucharistic hour in the chapel of the Center for Higher Studies. “Communion of hearts in the heart of Jesus” was the guiding theme of this gathering of all branches of the Movement. After the Gospel reading, Father Sylvester Heereman, L.C., led the reflection. After a time of silent adoration, a representative from each branch read a prayer aloud in front of the Blessed Sacrament.

All together, before the blessing with the Blessed Sacrament, they prayed the Litany of the Sacred Heart. After the blessing and the prayers of reparation, the adoration continued throughout the night.

The next day, on the solemnity of the Sacred Heart, Father Eduardo Robles-Gil, L.C., presided over the Eucharistic concelebration and delivered the homily. In his homily, he highlighted the moment of grace we are experiencing as a charismatic family in the Church by opening this jubilee year: “Today we are gathered here on this solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which, like every year, is a feast that reminds us of the great love God has for us. However, on this occasion, we want to extend this solemnity over time. We want it to somehow mark us not only for a day, not only as a recurring feast of the mysteries of salvation that we remember for our spiritual benefit. We want this feast, this solemnity, to mark a longer period for us. To be for us a beginning of this jubilee that we want to celebrate by recalling the wonders God has done in us. Therefore, from this chapel of the Center for Studies, where we are gathered, a small part of the grand and beautiful reality that is the Regnum Christi Movement, we want to proclaim something we have already done, but we do so today from the altar, from the celebration of Christ’s love in the Eucharist. We call this jubilee of our 75 years of existence, which is nothing other than 75 years of God’s loving presence among us, for us, and through us for the souls, for the people God has entrusted to us».

Madrid.- Members of Regnum Christi in Madrid gathered on Friday, June 12, at Domus Mariæ Cerro del Coto, for a time of adoration, the Eucharistic celebration, and a family fellowship.

Medellín.- In Medellín, a Heart Fest was organized at Colegio Cumbres, inviting families to enthrone the Sacred Heart. After an explanatory talk, the Mass was celebrated, followed by the enthronement ceremony.

In the days leading up to the start of the jubilee, a motivational campaign about the promises of the Sacred Heart was launched.

Paris.- The consecrated team of Paris organized a day of adoration at the Regnum Christi spirituality center. Throughout the day, adoration took place, and towards the end of the day, the solemnity Mass was celebrated in family. After the Mass, a dinner was held for friends and supporters of the local Movement.

Mexico.- The territory of Mexico announced its program for the jubilee of the Legion’s and Regnum Christi’s founding, which began with the Eucharistic hour and the celebration of the solemnity Mass of the Sacred Heart in the chapel of Universidad Anáhuac.
