Born in Caracas, Venezuela, on May 15, 1967, Fr. Julio César Martí Acuña is a civil engineer by training and entered the novitiate of the Legionaries of Christ in 1991, in Cheshire (USA). He professed his first vows in 1993, his perpetual vows in 1996, and was ordained a priest on September 3, 1997.
With a solid philosophical and theological formation in Rome, Fr. Julio has dedicated part of his priestly life to the formation of religious and to the territorial government of the Congregation. He served as rector and instructor of novices in Cheshire (1997–2008), territorial director in New York (2008–2011) and in Venezuela–Colombia–Ecuador (2012–2018), as well as superior of communities and director of the Cumbres Institute in Caracas, and local director in Panama (2019–2025), collaborating closely with Regnum Christi and various educational and apostolic works.
Since 2025, Fr. Julio has been Territorial Director of the Legionaries of Christ in Brazil, residing in São Paulo. In carrying out this mission, he is particularly dedicated to accompanying priests and consecrated persons, caring for apostolic works, and strengthening communion with Regnum Christi, ensuring that all fronts of the apostolate serve the Church and families with faith, hope, and charity.
