“To talk about young people, it is first necessary to listen to them. Pope Francis asked them to make a mess to be heard; this University has the privilege of finding and offering many young people a very important and highly qualified service,” said Mons. Franco Coppola, Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico, during the homily at the inauguration of the Seminary: “The destiny of eros: the place of sexuality in human fullness.”

The event takes place from January 22 to 26 at the Anáhuac University Campus Norte, home of the Pontifical Institute John Paul II for Studies on Marriage and Family, Mexican section. The guest professor is Fr. Dr. José Noriega Bastos, who comes from the headquarters in Rome, Italy, of the John Paul II Institute.

The seminar was inaugurated at 9 a.m. by the Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico, Mons. Franco Coppola. Accompanying him at the presidium were Father and Dr. José Noriega, Fr. Gaspar Guevara, LC, president of the Institute, and Dr. Alejandro Landero, national director. At one o’clock in the afternoon, a concelebrated Eucharist was held in the chapel of Anáhuac Mexico University, Campus Norte.

Fr. Ricardo Sada, LC, territorial director of Mexico and Central America of Regnum Christi, participated in the concelebration, along with the university rector, Fr. Cipriano Sánchez, LC, who at the beginning of the Mass expressed gratitude for the presence of the Nuncio, highlighting that, as a university with a Catholic identity, it greatly values his presence as a representative of Pope Francis: “His presence inspires us to continue working with the peripheries, with dialogue and the joy of the Gospel, as Pope Francis says; we strongly motivate young people so that they do not remain indifferent to the many challenges that today’s world presents us.”

In his homily, Mons. Coppola shared a very special moment from his life, when the Pope appointed him as his representative in Mexico and told him that this country is a treasure of faith for the Church, and that the Church in Mexico must work with this treasure to preserve it.

Continuing with his experience, he said that upon arriving in Mexico he felt a great responsibility for the task given by the Pope, but when he arrived at the Basilica of Guadalupe and read the words that the Virgin said to Juan Diego: “¿Kuix amo nikan nika nimonantsin ¿Kuix amo noseualotitlan, nekauyotitlan in tika” (Am I not here, I who am your mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection?), he felt immense peace and the maternal company of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
