Panel de diálogo interreligioso

From May 15 to 19, the national ladies’ retreat of Regnum Christi was held in Bogotá. The retreat, organized by Fathers Néstor Guerrero, LC and Fernando Morales, LC, offered a proposal of apologetics centered on dialogue, welcoming, and listening to the various perspectives on God, the world, and man.

To this end, an interreligious dialogue panel was held, featuring the Catholic bishop of Zipaquirá, a Buddhist sensei, the imam of the Bogotá mosque, and the wife of the rabbi of Bogotá; there was also an ecumenical dialogue panel with representatives from the main Christian denominations: Catholics, Orthodox, Anglicans, and Evangelicals.

There were also moments of dialogue and formation in which participants could better understand topics such as atheism, the situation of divorced and remarried individuals, homosexuality, and how the new generations think. Each conference on Church doctrine was preceded by a meeting with people from the other present denominations.

“This retreat has been a wonderful opportunity to learn to listen openly and without prejudice, understand others’ positions, and be able to ‘build bridges instead of walls.’ The result so far has been feeling increasingly blessed by the truth I know, grateful for the gift of my faith, and committed to deepening my understanding of my Church and doctrine,” commented Patricia Candela.

During those days, the presence of Mons. Ettore Balestrero, Apostolic Nuncio of Pope Francis in Colombia, was also felt.
