Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum and Pontifical International College Maria Mater Ecclesiae: a common mission

Published on 22 May, 2023
News

Two institutions, one common project: integral, interdisciplinary and intercultural formation, offering a professional and personal formation experience to foster unity in Christ

The Regina Apostolorum Pontifical Athenaeum (APRA) and the Maria Mater Ecclesiae International Pontifical College (PCIMME) are committed to a common mission: to form tomorrow’s evangelizers. “Attentive to integral, interdisciplinary and intercultural formation, offering a professional and personal formation experience in Rome, center of Christianity”.

The Pontifical Athenaeum, canonically erected by the Congregation for Catholic Education (CEC) in 1993 and directed by the Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ, offers, with its three Faculties (Theology, Philosophy and Bioethics) and five Institutes (Higher Institute of Religious Sciences, Science and Faith Institute, Institute for Higher Studies on Women, Sacerdos Institute and Fidelis Institute of Economic and Social Ethics), in addition to the UNESCO Chair on Bioethics and Human Rights, a formation that is:

• Systematic, interdisciplinary and integral, with individual and current study plans;

• Solid, attentive and coherent with the Magisterium of the Church;

• Current and in dialogue with contemporary culture and society, based on Christian identity;

• Highly qualified for the development of specific skills and Christian leadership to better contribute to evangelization.

For its part, the Maria Mater Ecclesiae International Pontifical College is a Priestly Formation Center created in 1991 as a response to the guidelines set by Pope John Paul II to collaborate with bishops in the preparation of future priests. It is open to diocesan seminarians and priests who, in the judgment of their Ordinary, have the necessary qualities to dedicate a period of their formation and study in Rome.

With the help of the team of formators and spiritual directors, the objective is to promote a deep spirit of ecclesial communion, integrating the gifts of different cultures and fostering unity in Christ.

The two institutions implement the common mission with financial aid, scholarships and academic grants to respond to today’s formative needs and favor a valuable experience in Rome (click here to learn more about the extensive portfolio of study scholarships).
