“Accompanying families helps to build a true culture of love.”

Article published by the Communications Office of Mexico and Central America about Fr. Javier Caballero, L.C., and his new role in the international apostolate Familia Unida and adult and marriage ministry

Fr. Javier Caballero, L.C., has joined the North Mexico territory with a new mission: to strengthen the apostolate for married couples and families.

With nearly 20 years of priesthood—an anniversary he will celebrate, God willing, this December—Fr. Javier begins a new stage in his pastoral mission in the North Mexico territory. After serving in the Chile and Argentina territory, he now arrives with the task of collaborating with Familia Unida Internacional and supporting adult and marriage ministry—areas he considers essential for the renewal and growth of Regnum Christi.

This new chapter builds on a solid foundation laid by the generous and dedicated work of Diana Villarreal, who led this mission for six years. Her commitment, vision, and leadership have left a lasting mark on many families and collaborators. With deep gratitude, her tireless service is recognized for helping establish this apostolate as a true point of reference for both the Church and society.

“The apostolate comes with many challenges, but also many opportunities,” says Fr. Javier.

Familia Unida, already a well-established reference in the field of family and marriage support—especially in Mexico and increasingly in other Spanish- and English-speaking countries—now faces the challenge of expanding its reach and continuing to be a light for even more families within and beyond Regnum Christi.

A key part of this growth lies in the integration of two major areas of action: preventive formation through structured programs and pathways, and healing and accompaniment via family counseling centers.

“We want to offer safe, healthy spaces where people feel protected—places where their dignity is respected as human beings, as Catholics, and as baptized persons,” he explains.

Amid a polarized social context in both Mexico and abroad, Fr. Javier sees in this apostolate a concrete opportunity to build bridges: “Accompanying families from courtship through late adulthood allows us to foster a true culture of love, reconciliation, solidarity, and unity. Christ’s message is a message of Love—with a capital L—and that’s where we want to respond from.”
