“Dare to Know Him!” – An Invitation to Discover Why We Should Know Jesus

Published on 18 June, 2025
Legionaries, News

Inspired by his pastoral work with young people at IEST Anáhuac in Tampico, Father Bruno Montekio, L.C., presents his first book. Driven by the conviction that “we cannot afford to go through this world without knowing Christ,” his work offers a sincere testimony designed to ignite in readers a deep longing for an encounter with Jesus.

A Bridge to Christ: Fr. Bruno Montekio’s New Book

During his regular visits with high school students at IEST Anáhuac in Tampico, Father Bruno Montekio, L.C., noticed a profound reality: many baptized young people lack a personal, deep knowledge of Christ. “It’s not enough to know about Jesus; you have to know him personally, like a friend,” he firmly asserts.

This question, “How can you love someone you don’t know?“, spurred him to give short talks to his students about Jesus’ identity, mission, virtues, and loves. Encouraged by his mother’s consistent wish for him to write, and solidified during the pandemic, the idea for a book was born, and it has now come to fruition.

Far from being a theological treatise or an academic reflection, this work stands out for its clear and accessible language. It was designed especially for those beginning their religious formation, for young people, and generally, for every soul thirsty to know more about Jesus.

A 30-Day Journey to Fall in Love with Christ

The book offers a thirty-topic journey divided into four sections, all with one goal: to fall in love with Christ.

  • Who is Jesus?: Explores His identity and mission through the “I Am” statements in the Gospels.
  • Jesus’ Loves: Delves into what He valued most: the Father, humanity, and divine will.
  • His Virtues: Invites readers to follow and imitate Jesus by understanding His virtues.
  • Titles of Jesus: Brings new life and meaning to expressions like “Lamb of God” or “King of Israel.”

Each section features a Gospel passage, a reflection, a prayer, and a concrete purpose, ensuring that the knowledge of Christ moves beyond mere ideas and translates into lived experience.

A Flexible Resource for Personal Encounter

Designed for individual meditation, groups, or apostolates, the book can be read daily as a 30-day path to a deeper knowledge of Jesus, or at one’s own pace. It’s also an ideal tool for retreats, prayer groups, and spiritual formation gatherings.

“Each of these topics adds something more to the landscape of the soul: we begin to recognize Jesus, understand His heart, and, above all, allow ourselves to be seen by Him,” shares Fr. Bruno.

Published by Barker Books, the book is available on Amazon.

In a world full of distractions that often pull us away from what’s essential, this book is an invitation to pause, look at the Master, and allow yourself to be loved by Him. “May no one miss out on knowing the Friend who gave His life for us!” exclaims Fr. Bruno, reminding us of Jesus’ words: “This is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (Jn 17:3).
