April 29: New Legionary Priests Serving the Church and the World

The 32 new Legionary priests come from Germany, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, El Salvador, Spain, the United States, Italy, Mexico, and Venezuela 

The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore will be the place where 29 legionaries will be ordained priests. The ceremony will be officiated by Cardinal Fernando Vérgez, LC, president of the Pontifical Commission for the State of Vatican City and the Governatorate of Vatican City. The new priests are from Germany, Brazil, Canada, Chile, South Korea, El Salvador, Spain, the United States, Italy, Mexico, and Venezuela. 

Furthermore, three will be ordained in Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico, making a total of 32 new priests in 2023.

Date: Saturday, April 29, 2023. 

Time: 10 a.m. (Rome) 

Location: Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore (Rome)

The formation path of the Legionaries of Christ before being ordained priests lasts 12 years. The key elements of their formation as an institution of the Church are outlined in a document called Ratio Institutionis

and titled “Christus vita vestra”.
