«The Holy Spirit makes us resemble Christ Servant to be servants» – Diaconal ordinations in Colombia

Ordenación diaconal de Daniel Sossa, LC y Daniel Loaiza, LC

On Saturday, August 20, 2022, the Colombians Daniel Sossa, LC, and Daniel Loaiza, LC, were ordained deacons. The ceremony, which took place at the Congregation’s training center in Rionegro, was presided over by Monsignor Fidel León Cadavid Marín, bishop of that diocese, and was attended by members of the Legion of Christ, consecrated members of Regnum Christi, lay members of Regnum Christi, family, and friends.

In his homily, Monsignor Fidel invited the new deacons to live out their calling to serve the Church in liturgy, in the Word, and in charity, but not in any way, but in the style of Christ: “That is the model. The one who washed the disciples’ feet and the one who said: ‘I came to serve and not to be served.’ That is his model. (…) Pope Benedict summarizes very well what love and service consist of. If we want to elevate ourselves to God, we must humble ourselves to simple service. The humility of love—that is what Jesus did: being God, he became man; being rich, he became poor; he humbled himself to become the servant of all.”
