Alexis Gática, LC, who has just arrived in the Colombia-Venezuela territory as the new director of the youth section of Regnum Christi in Medellín.
Father Alexis was born in Chile on January 18, 1984. He is the third of four children. He joined the ECYD in August 1996. He entered the vocations center of the Legion of Christ in Santiago de Chile. He did his novitiate first in São Paulo (Brazil) and then moved to Medellín, Colombia (2001-2003). He completed his humanistic studies in Salamanca, Spain. He holds a degree in philosophy and a bachelor’s in theology from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome, Italy. He collaborated as a studies prefect at the vocational centers of Porto Alegre (Brazil) and Santiago de Chile for four years (2006-2010), and at the Headquarters of the General Directorate as an assistant to the General Secretariat, the Office of Institutional Communication, and the General Studies Prefecture (2010-2015).
He was ordained a priest on December 12, 2015, in Rome. During these six years of priestly ministry since his ordination, he has been a formator of the novitiate in Spain when it was located in Salamanca (2015 – 2018), director of the youth section and training instructor at Highlands School Sevilla (2018 -2021), and responsible for the new youth and vocational pastoral project in Salta, Argentina, from November 2021 until February 2022.
