At the end of June, more than 40 young people began their candidacy for the Legion of Christ. The participants come from the Congregation’s vocational centers as well as from other schools.
During a period of 8 weeks, the young candidates will continue a process to discern a possible calling to priestly life in the Legion of Christ and to enter the novitiate. This year, participants from Mexico, Costa Rica, and Guatemala are included.
What is the candidacy for the Legion of Christ?
It is a period of time offered to young people with vocational questions, during which they can openly ask the Lord: what do you want from me?
During this period, participants will be able to discern a possible calling to priestly life in the Legion of Christ and deepen their understanding of its meaning. It is a time to get to know the Congregation, its charism, spirituality, and for the Congregation to get to know each of the candidates.
Activities include prayer, sports, spiritual formation, apostolate, and fellowship.

Clarity to Respond to What God Wants
The path to discovering one’s vocation did not begin with the candidacy; beforehand, they have gone through a process that, for the vast majority, started with a deep inquietude within their soul.
For all of them, there is a common desire at the end of this stage: “to have greater certainty and clarity,” they have asked God for it and invite the entire Regnum Christi family to pray for them.
They show themselves willing and motivated to live this experience, grateful to their families for the support received, and seek to respond with trust and love to the Lord who has gathered them this year so they can continue a vocational path together.
The candidacy will conclude on August 23, and the participants will return home to visit their families. Those who have decided to enter the novitiate will return for a time of spiritual exercises and begin their formation toward the priesthood in the Legion of Christ upon receiving their cassock.
