Encuentro para formadores de la Legión: Formación motivada por el amor y para la misión

The Capitular Decree of 2020, in the recommendations to the general director of the Legion of Christ, states:

Regarding the implementation of the Ratio institutionis (Christus vita vestra): define the “graduation profile,” the competencies to be acquired, and the evaluation criteria for each stage; continue evaluating the formative journey; assess and develop ongoing formation in the next edition (Capitular Decree CG 2020 § 3, 10).

With this background, the “Meeting for Legion Trainers” was held. The meetings took place virtually during the European afternoon and the morning of the American continent.

Participants agreed on the need to reflect on topics such as the identity of the Legionary of Christ, the elements that could distinguish a formation center from an apostolic house, community life, intergenerational gaps, the danger of passivity in apostolate, among others.

Each session began with a reflection on one of the Beatitudes. Father Hernán Jiménez, LC, Vicar General of the Legion, was responsible for opening the meeting, and Fathers Gerardo Flores, Ignacio Sarre, Jorge Fernández Tijerina, Donal Clancy, Evaristo Sada, Jaime Rodríguez, LLCC, addressed various topics; they also had the participation of Father Gottfried Ugolini, director of the service for the prevention and protection of minors in the Diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone, who discussed the topic of human formation.

Father John Connor, LC, recommended to all participants in the training meeting the study, reflection, and application of the document “The Gift of Fidelity. The Joy of Perseverance,” from the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, a document intended for all consecrated persons, especially those responsible for governance and formation in orders, congregations, monasteries, and institutes.
