“In the family of Regnum Christi, we must develop a renewed “vocational culture” that arises from an appreciation of the gift of one’s own vocation and that of others.”
These were the words of Fr. Eduardo Robles Gil, L.C., General Director of Regnum Christi, to introduce the document “Guidelines for Vocational Renewal,” published in December 2014.
As Laity Consecrated in Regnum Christi, we have delved into how accompaniment should be for young people with questions about the consecrated life. Jorge López, our General Responsible, gave a lecture on this topic to some Legionaries of Christ who will begin their ministry working with youth:
– Initially, he emphasized the need to identify the signs specific to the vocation of a consecrated layperson. Generally, when someone feels called to a vocation, the identity and mission of that vocation resonate internally, along with the lifestyle. Some essential aspects of the vocation were outlined: being lay, being consecrated, being Regnum Christi, community life, formation, and mission.
– Then, he referred to how to accompany people showing signs of a possible call to the consecrated lay life: offering the possibility of contact with consecrated laypeople, introducing the basics of the consecrated lay life, helping them to live their life fully in Regnum Christi, and providing regular spiritual direction.
– Finally, he commented on what we can do to foster vocations to the consecrated lay state. There is a recognized need to make a qualitative leap in the vocational culture, so that in the works and sections of Regnum Christi, everyone asks themselves about their vocation: what does God want from me? All vocations should be valued, and everyone must promote all vocations. Propose the vocation.
As a Movement, we face the challenge of carrying out appropriate vocational pastoral work. Undoubtedly, various aspects of current society hinder this task; however, God continues to call, and our goal is to help each person find their “vocational fullness.” For this, a personal encounter with the living Christ is necessary, one who calls to a specific vocation and entrusts a personal mission. It is also important to live and serve in communion to better understand the various vocations. Additionally, we seek to provide adequate accompaniment to people on their vocational path.
