Given the inability to travel to personally attend to the sections of the Regnum Christi of the Eje Cafetero, Father Óscar Gamboa and Danilo Stradioto, LLCC, found in music a very effective means to evangelize and unite hearts.

What started as a simple discussion about the effect of music on emotions has led to the recording of four songs in which not only young people from the Regnum Christi from different cities have participated, but also professional musicians.

First was Missionary Vocation, a hymn for missions created on the initiative of a young man from Manizales, then emerged Kyrie Eleison, Abundant Life, and Ave Maria, their most recent creation.

The production of the songs is carried out with the simple technology they have at hand. Father Óscar makes the arrangements, each musician and vocalist records their part, and then Father Óscar does the final editing. The songs even include videos made with the help of different people.

“I have always been struck by how music is capable of connecting people’s hearts,” comments Father Óscar. “For many, these songs have been a relief amid the situation we are living through, as if it were a shared space where we meet. I remember the moment we gathered to record the choir video for Missionary Vocation. It was beautiful to see families, missionaries, excited about the idea of coming together to share that moment. For a moment, I felt like I was there with them, at the closing mass of the missions. This is one more way, among many that the Holy Spirit has inspired during this period, to stay close, to bring a message of encouragement, and to enjoy the beauty of music that always lifts our hearts to God.”
