On May 17, 31 Legionary of Christ religious (22 from the International College and 9 from the General Directorate headquarters) received the ministry of the lectorate. One step closer to the sacred orders and the beginning of immediate preparation towards it.
At the International College, the Mass was presided over by Father Christopher Brackett, LC, superior of the theology brothers’ community. He reminded them that man feels called and challenged to accomplish great things by seeking to give his best, and, despite difficulties, he fights to achieve what he desires.
At the General Directorate headquarters, the ceremony was presided over by Father Savio Zanetta, LC, superior of the brothers’ community. In his homily, the Father invited them to take this path of preparation very seriously. He said: “We must be good judges of God’s word and make it our life. The best meals are those prepared slowly and patiently.”
A ministry is a mission exercised on behalf of someone else. In this case, Christ chooses his ministers for the ministry of the lectorate so that they proclaim and safeguard his word.
The Church offers this gift to those preparing for the priesthood so that the word of God gradually takes root in the lives of the candidates, becoming a way of thinking and acting.
The religious come from 12 countries: Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, United States, Italy, Mexico, El Salvador, and Venezuela.
