Fr. Sylvester Heereman, L.C., was born on September 10, 1974, in Bad Neustadt an der Saale, Germany. He entered the novitiate of the Legion of Christ in his country in 1994 and made his first profession in 1996 and his perpetual profession in 1999. From 2001 to 2003, he was territorial secretary for Italy. From 2004 to 2006, he was a member of the team of formators at the Center for Higher Studies in Rome while completing his studies. He was ordained a priest on December 23, 2006.
On February 6, 2007, he was appointed territorial director of Germany, and after the merger of this territory with that of France, he was appointed territorial director of Western and Central Europe on June 10, 2011. He was appointed vicar general by Cardinal Velasio de Paolis on February 16, 2012.
On October 15, 2012, he assumed the duties of general director of the Legion of Christ and Regnum Christi following the temporary resignation of Father Álvaro Corcuera, L.C., for health reasons. He was elected general councilor by the Extraordinary General Chapter of 2014.
He is currently National Coordinator of Vocational Promotion in Germany and Councilor of the Territorial Directorate of Western and Central Europe.
