On June 29, the solemnity of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, Father Eduardo Robles-Gil, LC, presided over the Eucharistic celebration in which more than 40 priests concelebrated, and where seven religious made their perpetual profession and one renewed his temporary profession. The ceremony took place in the chapel of the Legionaries of Christ International College in Rome.
Bernardo Siller, Juan Carlos Arias, Saúl Gutiérrez, Mario Rodríguez, Matthew Bender, Juan Pablo López, and Miguel Esponda took their perpetual vows. Abraham Eo renewed his temporary vows.
«It has been very special that the profession fell on the day of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, within the octave of the Sacred Heart. It can be said that it is a great synthesis of the spirituality of Regnum Christi: The apostolic launch in service of the Church, founded on an intimate and experiential love of the Heart of Christ. I ask God and His Most Holy Mother very much to always keep us there and that what is sown today by this “second baptism” germinate for eternal life,» commented Brother Bernardo Siller, LC.
Father Eduardo mentioned in his homily how the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, which Saint Peter and Saint Paul proclaimed with their lives and martyrdom, continues to provoke the total surrender of life to God. A faith in Jesus Christ, Savior of the world, «for whom it is worth giving all life […]. It is mysterious and grand, but God trusts in us […]. God fully trusts you. He envelops you with His mantle, gives you His grace, grants you His protection, and places many people in your hands so they can open the Kingdom of Heaven.»
He also invited them to watch and pray to face temptations: «May the Lord free me from evil deeds, from my evil deeds. That is the greatest danger. We have it inside, fragility accompanies us […]. Strength comes from God, only from God. We carry a treasure in earthen vessels, but the Lord protects us. “The Lord was at my side and gave me strength.”»
After the Eucharistic celebration, Brother Daniel Rodríguez, LC, who is studying philosophy in Rome and is the brother of Brother Mario Rodríguez, LC, commented: «Today I experienced once again how God shows us His love by seeing my brother reaffirm the “yes” he first said 15 years ago to follow Him as a religious and future Legionary priest. Just listen to Him, leave the nets, and follow Him. He takes care of the rest.»
