From May 6 to 11, the XIV course on exorcism and liberation prayer was held in Rome, at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, organized by the Sacerdos Institute. More than 240 people participated, coming from 41 countries.
The course is not only aimed at exorcists but also at any layperson interested in the subject. Father François Dermine, O.P., states that «it is aimed at priests who want to simply inform themselves or who are on a formative path toward exorcism, but also at professional laypeople who want to deepen their understanding: religion teachers, pastoral agents, psychologists and psychiatrists, lawyers, and even law enforcement personnel». Monsignor Luigi Negri affirmed that «exorcism is a ministry of mercy for those who suffer».
Regarding the course, Father Luis Ramírez, LC, coordinator of the Sacerdos Institute, comments that «the course proposes a careful academic and interdisciplinary investigation into the ministry of exorcism and liberation prayer. The program covers topics related to anthropological, phenomenological, social aspects, biblical, theological, pastoral, and spiritual aspects, liturgical and canonical aspects, as well as legal, medical, and psychological aspects».
Among the novelties of this edition was an ecumenical roundtable with representatives from various Christian denominations. Additionally, more than 34 speakers from different fields and countries participated. The conferences were translated simultaneously into English and Spanish.
