With deep sadness, we inform you that our brother, Fr. Pedro Campos, L.C., passed away this morning due to a severe stroke.
Yesterday, in the late afternoon, while driving from the city of Valera to Mérida, accompanied by the administrator of the vocational center, Fr. Pedro suffered a stroke that caused him to lose some movement in his legs. As he was driving, he could not brake and hit his vehicle head-on without major consequences. Upon exiting the vehicle, he felt dizzy and lost all his memory. He was admitted to the intensive care unit at a clinical center in the city of Valera, where he was admitted in critical condition. Despite receiving all necessary medical care, on the morning of today, Thursday, September 6, 2018, at approximately 11:15 a.m., he passed away.

Father José Pedro Campos Moreno was born on July 12, 1976, in León, Guanajuato (Mexico), as the eleventh of 18 children. He was baptized at the Church of San Miguel Arcángel and confirmed at the metropolitan cathedral. He entered the novitiate of the Legion of Christ in Salamanca (Spain) in September 1996. In 1998, he completed his studies in Humanities and Sciences in Cheshire, Connecticut (United States), and from 1999, he studied philosophy in New York (United States). He worked in vocations promotion in various cities in Venezuela. He completed his theology studies at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome. He was ordained a priest on December 12, 2009, during the Year for Priests, in Rome. Subsequently, he carried out his apostolic work in Torreón, Coahuila (Mexico), with youth groups and members of the Regnum Christi movement. Later, he was assigned to Brazil as a vocations promoter, and from there, he was transferred again to Venezuela as a vocations promoter, a position he continued to hold until today.
