“Being Seekers of God, the Origin of Their Vocation” | Video Summary of the Priestly Ordinations

A video-summary of the priestly ordinations from December 10th is now available, where 36 Legionaries of Christ received the sacramental ordination from Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of His Holiness, at the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano.

In his homily, Cardinal Parolin said that the vocation of these new priests has “a single origin: the fact of being seekers of God, of having been seduced by Him like the prophet Jeremiah.” He also reminded them that “the Holy Spirit, through the laying on of hands and anointing, enables them for service as ministers of the Lord in the midst of God’s people […] They are consecrated to the Lord to be missionaries of the Gospel among the people.”

The text of Cardinal Parolin’s homily can be read in Spanish here. Likewise, the vocational stories of the new priests can be read on the ordination site, at this link.

The 36 priests, along with their families, attended the general audience with Pope Francis on Wednesday, December 14th, where they received the Holy Father’s blessing and a special greeting.

“I am pleased to welcome you, new priests of the Legionaries of Christ, with your families and the seminarians of Brescia. May you live your priesthood with authenticity, a spirit of service, and the ability to mediate between God’s grace and human fragility. Mediators, never intermediaries,” were the words of the Holy Father.
