The faith and reason meet at La Almudena thanks to the Ratzinger Foundation and the Francisco de Vitoria University

The Archbishop of Madrid, Monsignor Carlos Osoro, together with Fr. Federico Lombardi, new president of the Ratzinger Foundation, Fr. Miguel Márquez, Provincial of the Carmelites, and the rector of the Francisco de Vitoria University, Daniel Sada, presented the book “Prayer, the Force that Changes the World,” from the Biblioteca de Autores Cristianos (BAC) and edited by Isidro Catela, professor at UFV.

This work compiles the Acts of the V International Congress held during the past academic year at UFV and the lectures by experts in the field. In addition to those mentioned, it includes interventions by Cardinal Blázquez, Monsignor Fratini (Apostolic Nuncio in Spain), and Monsignor Scotti (former president of the Joseph Ratzinger Foundation).

On the 500th anniversary of the birth of Saint Teresa of Ávila, the proposal of the work aims to put on the table a ‘letter of universitarian nature,’ as stated in the prologue of the new outcome of the Congress. “The scientific ambition is not an reckless adventure born from illusion. On the contrary, it is a longing for truth that originates in the certainty that God loves us and that man, in fruitful dialogue with Him, can be an adequate instrument of His peace.”

I Edition of the Razón Abierta Awards

Fr. Lombardi and the university rector presented the ‘Razón Abierta Awards’ in their first edition as an accolade for the closeness of Benedict XVI’s idea of achieving a transdisciplinary dialogue and broadening the perspectives and landscape of reason.

A total of four awards were given, two of which were dedicated to teaching and the remaining to research in various fields of knowledge (Legal, Economic and Social Sciences, Communication, Biomedical and Health Sciences, and Information Technologies and Architecture).

These two outcomes reach the university community and the life of the Church in their joint aim of bringing their voices closer and engaging in active mutual listening, and to be a gift of intellectual life and a longing for Truth in this Year of Mercy.
