There is a need to give oneself to the joy of evangelization with a full heart

Mons. Donald Hying, Bishop of Gary, Indiana, ordained seven Legionaries of Christ as deacons at the Notre Dame church in Michigan. The ceremony took place on Saturday, August 6th, the liturgical solemnity of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

The Rev. Eduardo Robles-Gil, LC, General Director of the Legion of Christ and Regnum Christi, was also present, along with students from the Indiana vocations center, the families and friends of the deacons, and a large group of Legionaries from North America.

The seven deacons are:

“We thank God for the generosity of these young men who have given their constant “yes” to the Lord over all these years, and continue to do so. We thank them for their faith and trust in persevering through these years of renewal,” commented Mons. Donald in his homily.

As Pope Francis said during his recent trip to Krakow, in his message to priests and seminarians, we must give ourselves to the joy of evangelization with a full heart, leaving behind all mediocrity, fear, or selfishness.

Fr. John Connor, LC, Territorial Director of North America, commented on the ordination:

“We thank God for the gift of these vocations to help the Church and the world in these difficult times, where we are called to evangelize a quite secularized culture. We must continue serving the Lord so that, through the Movement, Christ transforms the lives of many men, women, and children through our schools, youth evangelization groups, and other apostolates.”
