Father Daniel Hennessy LC succeeds Father Mark Haydu LC who will now have a new pastoral assignment in New York

On June 15th, Father Daniel Hennessy, LC received the official appointment as the new International Director of “Patrons of the Arts” of the Vatican Museums, an international and intra-denominational entity dedicated to the restoration, conservation, and enhancement of the artistic heritage of the Vatican Museums’ works.

Father Daniel is originally from Texas (USA), joined the Legion of Christ in 1993, and was ordained a priest in 2006 after completing his studies at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum.

He began his formation in Connecticut and has carried out pastoral work in New York, Venezuela, and Rome, experiences that have facilitated his discovery of cultural diversity.

He has spent the last 7 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, returning to Rome in January of this year.

«The first thing I discovered with this assignment was finding extraordinary people on the team at the Vatican office, from restorers, curators, the administrator, the scientific delegate… all offering valuable work daily,» comments Father Daniel on the “Patrons of the Arts” website, in his official welcome.

For his part, Father Mark will now move to New York as chaplain of the “Lumen Institute” and a member of the Legionaries of Christ community in Rye, New York.

«Thanks to the generosity and hard work of many people, we have been able to offer the public these years restored works and also some that were previously unknown,» comments Father Mark.
