Kilcroney Castle Camp at Dublin Oak Academy

Published on 18 September, 2015
News

From June 29 to July 29, the “Kilcroney Castle Camp” took place at the Regnum Christi Academy Dublin Oak, in Ireland. 80 children from Spain, Mexico, France, Argentina, Brazil, Switzerland, and Portugal participated. 14 ECyD collaborators also participated as camp animators.

In the mornings, the children participated in the Eucharistic celebration, followed by English classes and sports practice. In the afternoons, the most suitable activities for the camp were organized, which was divided into four “kingdoms,” according to the four ancient kingdoms of Ireland: Ulster, Connacht, Munster, and Leinster. Each kingdom had two counties that corresponded to the teams formed by the children.

A period in Irish history was the theme of the week. The first week focused on “Stone Age,” where each team had to build its own kingdom in the forest. The second week was “Celtic Week,” where the first Christians of Ireland, such as Saint Patrick, were remembered, and each team built the chapel of its own kingdom. The third week was about the Vikings, and the last week was dedicated to “Irish Week”.
