Angeli per un giorno: discovering faith to go out to meet

Published on 2 July, 2026
Italy, Legionaries, News

Last Sunday, June 28th, the city of Verona, Italy, hosted Angeli per un Giorno (Angels for a Day). This apostolate of Regnum Christi and the Legionaries of Christ began its work in this region thanks to the drive, energy, and heart of the young people of the Verona-Brescia Regnum Christi Section.

For months, this group of young people has been preparing the initiative. As those who have accompanied them in the process point out, “faith always drives us to reach out to those who need us most,” and the response of these young people has been the driving force behind this first step.

A day of play, listening, and real encounters

For this first day, the volunteers visited a local family home that takes in children in highly vulnerable situations, many of them from difficult contexts of abandonment or migration processes.

The dynamics of the apostolate are as simple as they are profound: each volunteer becomes a guardian “angel” for a child throughout the day, accompanying, listening, motivating, cheering up, and bringing a message full of hope.

The day was full of activities:

  • Games and activities to spend time together.
  • Crafts and dances to make you smile and have a joyful day.
  • Moments of togetherness where the most important thing was that each child felt loved, listened to and valued.

For Fr. Alfonso Sánchez León, L.C., the apostolate is “a very beautiful testimony of how young people continue to be protagonists of evangelization when they are offered a space to serve.”

Sowing the seeds of the future

This first edition not only marks a great beginning, but also the start of a long-term project. The event benefited from the spiritual guidance of Fr. Carlos Blanco, L.C., and the work and support of Sara Scrocaro, who will now assume the local coordination of the apostolate to lead its organization and ensure the growth of Angeli per un Giorno in Verona.

We’re sharing some pictures from that day.
