Fr. Jordán Sixto Sánchez Bañuelos, L.C., was ordained a deacon on August 2 in León, Guanajuato (Mexico). Originally from Orizaba, Veracruz, and thirty years old, Fr. Jordán began responding to God’s call at the age of fifteen in the Vocational Center of La Joya, in Mexico City. After serving in various stages as a formator at Mano Amiga and the ECYD in Aguascalientes and León, he arrived in Venezuela as director of the ECYD in Caracas.
The Communications Office of the Colombia-Venezuela Territory interviewed Fr. Jordán Sánchez, L.C., about his priestly vocation, God’s call, his path of formation, and his current mission as director of the ECYD in Caracas.
Aware of the greatness of this gift, the new deacon expressed: “It is an immense grace, so great that one feels unworthy. As I lay prostrate on the ground, I remembered that I am nothing, and that it is Christ who will exercise the ministry through me.” Read the full story about the ordination here.

What led you to think about becoming a priest?
I used to think and want to plan my future, to have the security of knowing what the next step would be. But in the end, I always had an inner question: and then what? That question caused a certain dissatisfaction in me, as if my plans and dreams were not enough to make me happy. On the surface, I lacked nothing, yet there was a feeling of emptiness, as if something were missing in my life. It was this need for fulfillment that led me to think about the priesthood, to see in the figure of the priest a possibility for my life, a path to the fullness I was searching for.
