The Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity has published the texts for the 2024 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
With the theme “You shall love the Lord your God… and your neighbor as yourself”, a biblical passage taken from the Gospel of Luke (10:27), the Catholic Church prepares to celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which will take place from January 18 to 25, 2024, the last day being the feast of the conversion of Saint Paul.
According to information published by Vatican Media, “the preparation of the materials was entrusted to an ecumenical group from Burkina Faso supported by the local Chemin Neuf community. Additionally, representatives from the Catholic Archdiocese of Ouagadougou, Protestant churches, and local ecumenical organizations collaborated together in drafting the texts of prayers and reflections.”
It also reports that the texts were published jointly by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and the Faith and Constitution Commission of the World Council of Churches, available for Christians worldwide who may adapt them according to particular needs (local context, social, cultural, liturgical, and devotional practices).

Our Constitutions, in numeral 14, state that “Since the Church is the mystical Body of Christ and the presence of His Kingdom in the world, the Legion of Christ only has reason to exist in the Church, for the Church, and from the supernatural and human mission of the Church,” for this reason we echo this initiative of the Church, in addition to making a call for Christian unity worldwide, respect and love for one’s neighbor, and encounter and dialogue to overcome differences.
