From March 30 to April 2, the Acton Institute offered a course for second-year philosophy students at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Florence.

The course, led by Father Eamon O’Higgins, LC, a professor at the Athenaeum, focused on the theme “Economics and entrepreneurship: principles, virtues and practices” and featured speakers from various universities such as Nuno Castel-Branco from Harvard University; Giovanni Patriarca from the Mercatus Center; Carlos Lottieri from the University of Verona; Salvatore Rebecchini from Banca Finanzieria Internazionale; Pietro Paganini from John Cabot University; and Ian Wilders, CEO of Labo Life.

The course also provided opportunities for training in a less academic and formal environment. In one session, Silvia Bartolini from La Marzocco shared her experience working at one of the leading companies in coffee machine manufacturing. At another, Father Kramer Kameron, LC, founder of Florence Leadership Academy, discussed the importance of leadership in promoting new and good forms of human and social development.

This course, offered by the Acton Institute, is part of the extracurricular training for students of the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, a Catholic university run by the Legionaries of Christ in Rome. Specifically, it provides specialized training for the mission that some of them will undertake in their future priestly ministry.
