José Luis Sánchez García, vicar of the Archdiocese of Valencia.On Sunday, October 10th, Father Vicente Cortina, LC, took possession as the new pastor of the Parish of the Holy Martyrs of Valencia, before Mons. José Luis Sánchez García, vicar of the Archdiocese of Valencia, Spain. This parish has been in existence for just 10 years and is now entrusted to the Legion by decision of Cardinal Antonio Cañizares.
Father Vicente was born on September 2, 1959, in Almácera, Valencia, Spain. He entered the Novitiate of the Legionaries of Christ on September 15, 1984. On August 15, 1992, he made his perpetual profession. He was ordained a priest on November 25, 1994.
Father Vicente has served as a spiritual advisor at the Finis Terrae University in Santiago, Chile. In Guadalajara, Mexico, he was director of the gentlemen’s section of Regnum Christi, community superior, local apostolate coordinator, and spiritual director of the then Vocational Center.
Subsequently, Father Vicente was director of the youth section of Regnum Christi, apostolate coordinator, and director of Highlands School Sevilla, Spain. In recent years, he has served at various times as spiritual director, superior, and apostolate coordinator in Valencia, Spain.
Father Sebastián Rodríguez, LC, a member of the Valencia community, shares in a video from the Regnum Christi Spain Instagram account that, as a community, they have prepared to receive this gift and accompany Father Vicente, with community life and a retreat, where they reflected on what it means to be new men and this charge of the parish for the Legion.
