On Friday, May 21st, “Holy Land. The Last Pilgrim” was released in select cinemas. It is a film that narrates the vicissitudes of a family and how a pilgrimage to the land of Jesus completely changes their lives.
The film also features testimonies from local Christians and religious who work apostolically there, such as Fr. Juan Solana, LC, director of the Magdala Center; Sister Marian, an Argentine religious working with disabled children in Bethlehem; or Friar Aquilino, OFM, a Franciscan from the Custody of the Holy Land. Also participating is Fr. Arturo Díaz, LC, current chaplain of the Monastery of the Incarnation (Ávila), who lived in the Holy Land for some time and frequently organizes pilgrimages to the land where Jesus walked.
The film tells the story of a family in crisis. Carmen (Susi Lillo) sees her marriage stagnating: her husband (Carlos Cañas) does not include her, and her children do not understand her, especially Pedro (Alex Larumbe). When she proposes they go on a trip to the Holy Land, a storm erupts and conflicting feelings surface. She manages to convince them, and on this trip, viewers meet people with impactful lives and testimonies, and explore places that are more than ruins—they are pillars of a faith that transforms hearts.
