On September 21, Mons. Alfonso Cort\u00e9s Contreras, Archbishop of Le\u00f3n, Guanajuato, ordained five Legionaries of Christ as deacons in the Expiatory Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in that city.<\/p>\n
The new deacons are Frs. Juan Pablo Gonz\u00e1lez S\u00e1nchez, Luis Felipe Guzm\u00e1n, Agust\u00edn G\u00f3mez, Emmanuel Salgado, and C\u00e9sar Vel\u00e1zquez, LLCC. All of them are from the Baj\u00edo region.<\/p>\n
At the beginning of the ceremony, Fr. Paul Lara, LC, territorial director of the Legionaries of Christ in Monterrey, thanked Mons. Cort\u00e9s for his presence, as it was such a meaningful ordination in the lives of young people and of the Church.<\/p>\n
Family members, consecrated laity<\/a>, consecrated women<\/a>, Legionaries, and friends of Regnum Christi who have accompanied them in their vocational journey were present.<\/p>\n Students from the Vocational Centers of Le\u00f3n and Guadalajara also attended, singing the hymns that accompanied the various moments of the celebration.<\/p>\n In his homily, Mons. Cort\u00e9s emphasized that this event was very significant, as it was a miracle of the Trinity, since some brothers who have been baptized and confirmed are now called and chosen to represent Christ and contribute to the salvation of others.<\/p>\n He told them that today, Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit and the laying on of hands by the bishop, will make them new creatures with a new heart: \u00abThey will be servants of the Word, servants of the Gospel who will give God to others and administer the sacraments of Christ.\u00bb<\/p>\n He asked them to love the liturgy, not to be professionals of religion, but true servants of Christ\u2019s love, especially to those discarded by society, because with that \u00abthey will heal their wounds and rebuild their lives as comforters of the people of God.\u00bb<\/p>\n \u00abWe are called to reach many people to bring God’s hope through our apostolate, but above all through our life testimony,\u00bb said the new deacon C\u00e9sar Vel\u00e1zquez.<\/p>\n At the end of the religious ceremony, the new deacons celebrated with their families and friends.<\/p>\n
