More than 250 thousand from many countries responded to the call<\/strong>, as described by the official site of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lisboa2023.org\/es\/historia\" target=\"_blank\">WYD Lisbon 2023.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Impressed and surprised by the reception, the Pope said to the young people: \u00abWhat a magnificent spectacle your assembly offers from this stage.<strong> Who claimed that today&#8217;s youth no longer has interest in values? Is it true that one can no longer count on them?\u00bb<\/strong> Along with his words, Pope John Paul II gave the world a symbol: A large wooden cross called the &#8220;<strong>World Youth Day Cross<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/07\/50502218_10156154334978597_225873476852908032_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12059\" width=\"436\" height=\"582\" srcset=\"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/07\/50502218_10156154334978597_225873476852908032_n.jpg 718w, https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/07\/50502218_10156154334978597_225873476852908032_n-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 436px) 100vw, 436px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Photo<\/strong>: Archive<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The gathering was so successful that it was decided to replicate it the following year. <strong>This is how more than 300 thousand young people went to various churches in the city to participate in moments of prayer and catechesis<\/strong>. In that same 1985, John Paul II writes an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/john-paul-ii\/es\/apost_letters\/1985\/documents\/hf_jp-ii_apl_31031985_dilecti-amici.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Apostolic Letter to young people throughout the world<\/a> and announces, on December 20, the institution of World Youth Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is a World Youth Day?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">World Youth Day is <strong>the pilgrimage of young people and a celebration of encounter and solidarity for the new evangelization<\/strong>. Watch the video prepared by WYD Lisbon 2023 to learn more about its missionary and evangelizing purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Message of Pope Francis for the XXXVII World Youth Day 2022 &#8211; 2023<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u00ab<em>Mary arose and went with haste<\/em>\u00bb (<em>Lk&nbsp;<\/em>1,39)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Dear young people:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The theme of WYD Panama was: \u00ab<em>Behold the handmaid of the Lord: may it be done unto me according to your word<\/em>\u00bb (<em>Lk&nbsp;<\/em>1,38). After that event, we resume the path toward a new destination \u2014Lisbon 2023\u2014, letting God&#8217;s urgent invitation to&nbsp;<em>arise&nbsp;<\/em>echo in our hearts. In 2020 we meditated on Jesus&#8217; word: \u00ab<em>Young man, I say to you, arise!<\/em>\u00bb (<em>Lk&nbsp;<\/em>7,14). Last year we were inspired by the figure of the apostle Saint Paul, to whom the Risen Lord said: \u00ab<em>Arise! I make you a witness of the things you have seen<\/em>\u00bb (cf.&nbsp;<em>Acts&nbsp;<\/em>26,16). In the stretch that still remains before reaching Lisbon, we will walk alongside the Virgin of Nazareth who, immediately after the annunciation, \u00ab<em>arose<\/em>&nbsp;<em>and went with haste<\/em>\u00bb (<em>Lk&nbsp;<\/em>1,39) to go help her cousin Elizabeth. The objective is to dedicate a morning to being together to sing, pray and share the joy of wanting to meet Jesus and having been called to make him present: <strong>to be <em>Heaven Spoiler, <\/em>that is, a spoiler of Heaven<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is a way of expressing the mission of Regnum Christi that is launched on the occasion of WYD at an international level and that will continue after it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regnum Christi has a mission: it is called to make the Kingdom present. And Christ is the Kingdom in person, He is Heaven itself in person.
