{"id":11934,"date":"2023-07-05T09:09:50","date_gmt":"2023-07-05T15:09:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/legionariosdecristo.org\/?p=11934"},"modified":"2025-08-12T19:50:59","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T19:50:59","slug":"magdala-a-project-in-the-holy-land-reaches-50-million-pilgrims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/blog\/2023\/07\/magdala-a-project-in-the-holy-land-reaches-50-million-pilgrims\/","title":{"rendered":"Magdala, a project in the Holy Land, reaches 50 million pilgrims"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mexican priest Juan Solana, L.C., thanked the support of volunteers, archaeologists and benefactors so that Magdala Center has welcomed more than 50 million pilgrims.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At an event held at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ufv.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Francisco de Vitoria University, in Madrid, Spain,<\/a> <strong>Father Juan Solana, Mexican Legionary of Christ priest, thanked the support of volunteers and donors for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magdala.org\/?lang=es\">Magdala Center<\/a> project.<\/strong> He recalled that in 2005 the Vatican entrusted him with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.notredamecenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Notre Dame Pontifical Institute of Jerusalem<\/a>, where he saw the need to build a center for pilgrims on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2009, at the beginning of the Magdala Center construction, <strong>one of the most important religious archaeological discoveries in the last 50 years emerged:<\/strong> Mexican archaeologist Marcela Zapata-Meza and the UNAM Institute of Anthropological Research found a first-century Jewish town, identified as the ancient city of Magdala, where Jesus very likely preached and lived with the inhabitants.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"448\" height=\"673\" src=\"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/07\/magdalaarquegente.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11968\" srcset=\"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/07\/magdalaarquegente.jpg 448w, https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/07\/magdalaarquegente-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>It is significant that archaeologists and consecrated women are responsible for research, care, formation, lodging and communication at Magdala.<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/consagradasrc.org\/\">The Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi<\/a> who permanently support the project in Israel are: At Notre Dame, Anne Marie Terrenoir, Silvia Holgado, Alice Bresoline and Bianca de Mattos, at Magdala, Celine Kelly, Alessandra Soldati, Kathleen Nichols, Angie Andrade and Miriam Orejas.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding this, Angie Andrade, a consecrated woman originally from Mexico shared: &#8220;<strong>Our work is to welcome pilgrims, teach them where Jesus lived and preached. To facilitate their having a personal encounter with Jesus and his mercy&#8221;<\/strong>, she added that for this summer they have organized an international youth gathering. On the topic, Celine Kelly commented: &#8220;The Youthfest 2023 encounter is for me a great opportunity to meet Jesus in the Holy Land. Before such a materialistic and polarized world, leave your house, leave your plans and your distractions for 10 days and come listen to Him. You will see that He will surprise you!&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<strong>The youth gathering will be in the Holy Land from July 21 to 31<\/strong>, here I await you to help and support you like the women of the Gospel among Jesus&#8217; followers, who served with their own goods.
