{"id":11814,"date":"2023-05-09T12:32:49","date_gmt":"2023-05-09T18:32:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/legionariosdecristo.org\/?p=11814"},"modified":"2025-08-12T19:51:00","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T19:51:00","slug":"to-the-listen-in-a-plurality-of-voices-dircom-week-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/blog\/2023\/05\/to-the-listen-in-a-plurality-of-voices-dircom-week-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"DirCom Week 2023: an opportunity for gathering and reflection on communication"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From May 1 to 5, the communication directors of Regnum Christi participated in the DirCom Week, where they analyzed the progress made in the territories<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The participating territories in DirCom were: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regnumchristi.org\/es\/mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Northern Mexico, Mexico<\/a> and Central America, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regnumchristi.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">North America<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regnumchristi.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Colombia-Venezuela<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/regnumchristichile.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chile-Argentina<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/regnumchristi.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spain<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regnumchristi.eu\/de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Western and Central Europe<\/a> and Italy, as well as the international communication offices of Regnum Christi, of the <a href=\"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Legionaries of Christ<\/a>, of the <a href=\"https:\/\/consagradasrc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi<\/a>, and of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laicosconsagradosrc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Laity of Regnum Christi<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From May 2 to 4, they participated in the Congress \u201cRelevance and Listening: Communicating the Christian Message in the Plurality of Contemporary Voices,\u201d at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, in Rome<\/strong>. The congress, which brought together nearly 300 people from various dioceses, episcopal conferences, groups, and different ecclesial realities, focused on three essential aspects of all communication: identity, listening, and relevance. <strong>The importance of recognizing one\u2019s own identity in the midst of an increasingly secularized world was analyzed,<\/strong> and whether today Christian culture can inspire a society that is becoming more tired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" src=\"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/05\/dircomweek3-1024x681.jpeg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"11815\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/05\/dircomweek3.jpeg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/?attachment_id=11815\" class=\"wp-image-11815\" srcset=\"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/05\/dircomweek3-1024x681.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/05\/dircomweek3-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/05\/dircomweek3-1536x1022.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/05\/dircomweek3.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-caption\">The Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome was the venue that gathered over 350 communication leaders<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regarding listening within the framework of synodality, <strong>there was a meeting with the responsible persons of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/romancuria\/es\/dicasteri\/dicastero-per-la-comunicazione.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dicastery for Communication<\/a> of the Holy See<\/strong>. A topic of particular interest was the analysis of listening to victims of sexual and authority abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday, all congress participants gathered at St. Peter\u2019s Square to participate in the General Audience with Pope Francis. Also present at the same audience were <a href=\"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/ordenaciones-sacerdotales-roma-2023-ya-no-os-llamo-siervos-os-llamo-amigos-jn-15-15\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the newly ordained priests of the Legionaries of Christ<\/a> along with their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>On Monday, May 1, and Friday, May 5, they spent the day at the headquarters of the general leadership of the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi in Castel di Guido (near Rome),<\/strong> and they had the presence of <a href=\"https:\/\/subdir.legionariosdecristo.org\/nueva-coordinadora-general-de-ambientes-seguros-para-los-legionarios-de-cristo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Catalina Gallego<\/a>, the new international director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.0abusos.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Safe Environments<\/a>, where <strong>they reflected on the steps taken regarding abuse issues and the accompaniment of both victims and perpetrators.<\/strong> They concluded the day with a meal attended by Father John Connor, LC, general director of the Legionaries of Christ, and F\u00e9lix G\u00f3mez Rueda, general director of the Laity of Regnum Christi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Carina Whitman, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regnumchristi.eu\/de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Communication Office<\/a> and working in France, appreciated the fact that <strong>a committee of international communication directors has been created, composed of the international communication directors of Regnum Christi, Legionaries of Christ, Consecrated Women, and Laity of Regnum Christi, which aims to safeguard and transmit the common identity of Regnum Christi through communication, generating synergies and promoting communications at a general level<\/strong>. She added, \u201cThe congress we attended repeated some things we have already worked on but in a different context, exchanging reflections with other realities of the Church. It is very important to listen, to hear each other. There is a risk in thinking that we are communicating, but have we listened to the people we seek to reach before? It was an enriching experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For her part, Soledad Err\u00e1zuriz, director of <a href=\"https:\/\/regnumchristichile.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">communication for the territory of Chile-Argentina<\/a>, commented: \u201c<strong>These have been days of intense teamwork, sharing synergies and points of view about our work in the different territories. We have enriched ourselves professionally and also personally<\/strong>, because in my case, I was able to reaffirm my commitment to the charism and mission of Regnum Christi as one single spiritual family and apostolic body.
