Legionaries of Christ<\/span><\/span><\/h3><\/div><div class=\"w-hwrapper valign_top align_none\"><div class=\"w-text no_text\"><span class=\"w-text-h\"><span class=\"w-text-value\"><\/span><\/span><\/div><div class=\"w-text no_text\"><span class=\"w-text-h\"><span class=\"w-text-value\"><\/span><\/span><\/div><\/div><div class=\"g-cols wpb_row via_grid cols_1 laptops-cols_inherit tablets-cols_1 mobiles-cols_1 valign_top type_default stacking_default\" style=\"--columns-gap:3rem;\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>On January 25, 2025, the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle, the Director General of the Congregation, Father John Connor, LC, formally announced to all Legionaries the celebration of the General Chapter in January 2026. &#8220;We are, therefore, facing a year of spiritual, pastoral, and community preparation for this very significant event in our life as a Congregation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Thus, and taking into account the Constitutions of the Congregation, as well as the approval of the norms for the composition of the next ordinary General Chapter by the 2020 General Chapter, the 2026 General Chapter will begin on January 20, 2026, at the headquarters of the General Directorate of the Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ, in Rome, Italy.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the preparatory work and reflection for the 2026 General Chapter, topics related to the current world context, Legionary identity, religious life, vocational issues, and the apostolic mission are being addressed.<\/p>\n<h4>What is a General Chapter? \u2013 Code of Canon Law, c. 631 \u00a7 1<\/h4>\n<p>General Chapters are held every six (6) years and are spaces for internal communion and communion with the Church through discernment in the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The General Chapter, which holds the supreme authority in the institute according to the constitutions, must be constituted in such a way that, representing the entire institute, it is a true sign of its unity in charity. It is primarily responsible for defending the institute&#8217;s heritage and ensuring its adaptation and renewal in accordance with it, electing the Superior General, addressing the most important matters, and issuing norms that are binding for all&#8221; (Code of Canon Law, c. 631 \u00a7 1).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"w-separator size_custom with_line width_default thick_1 style_dashed color_border align_center\" style=\"height:30px\"><div class=\"w-separator-h\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><p>&#8220;The General Chapter, representing the entire Congregation, must be a sign and action of its unity in charity. The General Chapter can be ordinary or extraordinary. It is ordinary when convened, according to the established periodicity, at the end of the mandate of the general director. It is extraordinary in other cases.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 2.
